 Sandy's Middle School class for Quints One and Two - 2011

Art &  Architecture:
This class will explore ideas in architecture and the way those ideas relate to creating art. We will also study examples of architecture from various parts of the world and learn about styles of this architecture. Projects will include a mixed media sculpture based on furniture and building design, black and white and color two point perspective drawing, and a window design sculpture project.  Materials we will use will include drawing pencils, charcoal, paints, wood, wire, and paper mache, and polymer clay.


Sandy's Middle School Class Quint One - 2011

Fiber Design
This class studies and creates artwork made from a variety of fibers including wire, yarn, plant material, fabric and thread. The class looks at, writes about, and sketches from pictures of lots of examples of art from Native American baskets to contemporary embroidery.  Students learn techniques for weaving, felting, and wire sculpture,and basic sewing.   Students also study basic Fiber Art design concepts such as texture, pattern, color, and form.  We look at pictures of and actual examples of Fiber Art .  

Sandy's Upper School class for 2011- 2012

Paper & Print:
This class  explores lots of different paper based materials and projects.   Materials we use include paper pulp, paper mache, printmaking inks, copper dry point and relief printmaking plates, and stamps, and we also work with acrylic and water color paint to enhance the paper and printmaking projects we make.  Projects we work on include black and white and colored printmaking, paper mache sculpture, architectural paper sculpture, handmade paper, handmade books, and paper cutting designs.  We also look at examples of art from a variety of times and cultures.  There are no prerequisites for this class.
